My Trip To Key West

During my freshman year at Florida Atlantic University, I was participating in this program for out-of-state students called Florida Connect. We stayed in different suites on the same floor, attended an SLS class, and went on "field trips" to different parts of Florida (Key West, Tampa, Orlando).

Although the Florida Connect program no longer exists, it helped my college transition as I felt like I had a family away from home.

I have been to Key West only twice in my life, though I don't remember my first trip there besides how much I loved their delicious key lime pie. On the other hand, the second time where I went with Florida Connect was very memorable.

We jumped off a boat and went snorkeling in the middle of the ocean. For someone who can't swim well and struggles to breathe with the snorkeling mask on, I felt like I was going to die (not being dramatic). I had a panic attack mid adventure and had paranoia every time something touched my feet (I thought it was a shark).

While everyone was excitedly looking at fish swimming by, I was trying to calm myself down enough to where I could effectively breathe through my mask.

Besides that terrifying yet somehow exhilarating snorkeling experience, we went to local shops, watched the sunset on the pier, and ate more key lime pie. It quickly became a fun bonding experience that I will always remember. Check out the short video below to see some pictures from my time there.
