Trap Commandment 10: "Never cross the ones that brought you here."
The Trap Music Museum is a must-see destination for whenever you travel to Atlanta. I'll admit the lines are long, and there's a $20 admission fee to get into a place where you will only be in for half an hour. However, if you are a fan of Hip Hop and trap music, it's worth it. I am not a massive fan of museums, I find them boring, but the Trap Museum was different. You could see the history and evolution of Hip Hop from old legends such as 2Pac to new rappers like Cardi B. While you are walking through the place, you can rap along to the trap music playing and take plenty of pictures with your friends.
Afterward, you may want to stop at one of the best hype restaurants I have ever been to, the Metro Cafe Diner in Downtown Atlanta. The food is basic, but the energy there is magnifying. The second floor is filled with tables while the first floor is open for people who may want to do karaoke or dance to songs like "Cha Cha Slide." You have one of two options: eat and be entertained or join in on the fun.
During Super Bowl weekend this year, I traveled to Atlanta for a leadership conference for one of the organizations I am apart of. My second trip was filled with cold showers and attempting to get used to temporarily living with at least 12 other individuals staying in Airbnb. I felt like it was something straight out of a "Neighbors" movie.
It was amusing, though. We were trying to learn the then-popular Renegade dance on Tik Tok. We also joked about the bad acting from Tyler Perry's latest movie, "A Fall From Grace." And every few minutes, you can hear Pop Smoke music blasting in the background. At the time, though, I couldn't stand his music, so I would hold my ears and wish it to go away. Crazy how much things change because I like his music now, and he tragically passed away.
Another destination we went to was the Cascade Skating Rink. It happened to be Teens Night, so it was more hype than my first trip there. The music was excellent, and although there wasn't a skating competition like in the "ATL" or "Roll Bounce" movies, it was enjoyable.
When we left the rink that night in our cars, the traffic was terrible, and some crazy things started happening. All of the teenagers gathered together to cause havoc. They started jumping on the vehicles that were at the beginning of the line.
They held on to the side windows and jumped on top of the trunks trying to impress their friends but only caused almost accidents. Once we were at the beginning of the line, the kids attempted to jump inside our truck's open trunk. Meanwhile, they harassed the car behind us at the same time. One of my friends called them "Bebe's kids," and I couldn't agree more.
Fast forward to Sunday; everyone was leaving for their flights while I was waiting for my cousin, Shelby, to pick me up. I decided to stay with her and her family for two days before heading back home.
There, history was officially made. I played Super Smash Bros with my cousin Justin and beat him for the first time. It was indeed an accomplishment given how he's a gamer who plays at least every other day. My confidence was boosted for a short time until the sore loser sought revenge and beat me three more times.
I was also playing different games with Shelby's five-year-old son. He suggested that we had a pillow fight, which I told him wouldn't be the best idea, but he started hitting me with pillows.
Of course, the competition got the best of me, and I knocked him out with that pillow so hard, you would think it was a Mortal Kombat special. I instantly regretted it when he started crying and told me that he would tattle tale to his mom and dad. I apologized and said, "you should have listened to me when I said we shouldn't play," but questioned whether I did it unconsciously. Most likely, the case.
Overall, my second trip to Atlanta, Georgia, was exciting. Will I ever stay in an Airbnb again with too many people? No, I can't stand taking cold showers every day and waiting on others to get out of the shower. However, it was a good time that I was glad I could experience, and I would travel there again later on with a smaller group.
As promised, this part two post was about my second experience in Atlanta, Georgia. You can read about my first experience here. Below is a short video of my trip.
