Unsolved Mysteries Review

Unless I am mistaken, one of the common rules in good friendships is this: “Do not leave me behind at a social function."
Most friends who go to a party together leave together and if they cannot find someone, they keep searching until they do. It is rare for good friends to leave someone behind at a party an hour away from home. Let alone at a party where that individual was called racial slurs and got into a physical altercation with someone else there.
Unfortunately, this is the circumstance of one of the cases that stood out to me the most from Netflix’s revived series “Unsolved Mysteries." Alonzo Brooks died from a hate crime in April 2004 after attending a party in a white-dominated, racist town in Kansas. The Kansas Bureau Investigation (KBI) did an extensive search but did not find his body. His body wasn’t found until his family searched on their own one month later.
Some questions that I could not help but have were: How did his family find his body after the KBI already looked a month before? Was the KBI search not effective or was his body placed there recently? How did he die exactly? His death is undetermined. And the most pressing question of all, why in the world would his friends leave him behind?
There are other cases, of course, that had my eyebrows raised too. However, I don’t want to reveal too much information and spoil it for you.
Unsolved Mysteries is a crime show about mysteries that range from murders, paranormal events, and more. The original show aired from 1987 to 2010 and 34% percent of the cases resolved after the show.
If you are a fan of crime shows like Cold Case, Law & Order, or Criminal Minds, you will most likely enjoy Unsolved Mysteries. Some episodes can be a bit slow at times, but once it gets going it’s worth watching. Word of advice, do not watch this show before you go to bed because the theme song, similar to Michael Myers, may haunt you in your sleep.
