“When you have real money, there’ll always be somebody that you have to get before they get you.” - Mallory
If you merged the explosive family drama of Empire with the glamour-soaked chaos of Dynasty, you’d end up with something very close to Beauty in Black. Tyler Perry, known for Madea and the Why Did I Get Married? films, returns with a new drama series that leans fully into high-stakes secrets, messy relationships, and over-the-top family power plays.
At its core, Beauty in Black follows three strippers—Kimmie, Rain, and Angel—each fighting for a better life. Their worlds collide with the notorious Bellaire family, owners of a vast and influential beauty empire. And the Bellaires? They redefine dysfunctional.
Mallory Bellaire, sharp-tongued and calculating, runs the company with a steel spine and cutting comebacks. Horace Bellaire, despite struggling with a hidden health issue, still manages to pull the family’s strings. Norman juggles the desire for more corporate control with an illegal trafficking operation on the side. Charles prefers partying to responsibility, while Roy is a walking disaster—an unfaithful and unreliable drug addict. Even Jules, the head of security, holds enough of the family’s dark secrets to topple their empire.
The Bellaires are deceitful, murderous, and endlessly secretive—and that volatile mix gives the show its spark. Beauty in Black isn’t without flaws. The acting can be uneven, and at times the production has a noticeable “Tubi-original” vibe. But if you’re willing to roll with those rough edges, the series delivers enough jaw-dropping drama, comedic moments, betrayal, and twisty family intrigue to make it surprisingly addictive.
