Fans of other popular medical dramas such as Grey’s Anatomy and House will enjoy watching the new ABC Hit Drama “Good Doctor”.
Freddie Highmore (known for his roles in Bates Motel and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory), returns to play Dr. Shaun Murphy, an upcoming surgeon diagnosed with autism and savant syndrome.
He lacks eye contact, moves his hand a lot when he’s stressed, and doesn’t like to be touched. It’s also hard for him to feel empathy for his patients and understand what they are going through without asking questions.
But on the surgical side, he is very intuitive, has a photographic memory, and is able to come up with out of box solutions for different situations that save lives. He’s also learning social cues that help him better understand his patients, from listening to the advice of his mentor and fellow colleagues.
You can’t help but root for Dr. Shaun Murphy’s success as he not only had a traumatic childhood but he is constantly going through different challenges at the hospital that test what he can emotionally handle.
“Good Doctor” is a tear-jerking medical drama that can make you laugh one minute and then cry the next. Anyone who doesn’t mind becoming emotionally invested in each character’s story development should take a chance in catching up on all three seasons of the show on Hulu.
FYI: make sure you have a box of tissues on deck :)
