Squid Games Review

Can money buy you happiness? And more importantly—how far would you go to get it?

That’s the unsettling question at the heart of "Squid Games”, the Netflix original series that became a global phenomenon. Even if you haven’t watched it yet, chances are you’ve seen it referenced in TikTok challenges, memes, and Halloween costumes. And if you’re wondering whether the show lives up to the hype—it absolutely does.

"Squid Game" centers around hundreds of people—crippled by debt, poverty, or desperation—receiving mysterious invitations to compete in a series of childhood games for a massive cash prize. The catch? If you lose, you die.

Squid Games is a more intense, graphic version of "The Hunger Games"—only with games you may have actually played as a kid, like “Red Light Green Light”  or “Tug of War”.The contrast between childhood nostalgia and brutal violence makes the show hit even harder. It’s unpredictable, emotional, and full of twists that will keep you watching episode after episode.

If you’ve already seen Season 1, the last two seasons build on the story in unexpected ways. It introduces new players and new dangerous games, while giving us a deeper look at the world behind the games. You’ll see glimpses into the lives of the masked soldiers, which adds another layer of complexity to the whole system.

There’s also a fascinating twist where players get to vote after each round but you’ll learn that money has a strange way of influencing people's decisions. It’s a dark but honest reflection of real-life society, where people often put personal gain above empathy for others.

While the emotional attachment to the new cast might not hit quite as hard as the original characters, there are still standout players who bring fresh perspectives, struggles, and motivations to the table. What makes "Squid Games" more than just entertainment is how deeply it reflects real-world issues:

– The divide between rich and poor

– The desperation of people pushed to their limits

– The moral compromises people make for money

– How people can become desensitized to suffering when their own interests are at stake

It touches on universal fears while keeping you hooked with unpredictable storytelling. If you're into dark thrillers, psychological survival stories, or just want to see a show that reflects the harsh realities of the world in a dramatic way—”Squid Games” is absolutely worth watching.

It’s not for the faint of heart so if you’re sensitive to violence or high-stress situations, I’d still suggest trying the first episode to see how you feel—it’s gripping from the moment it starts, and it’s easy to understand why the show became a global sensation.

Without spoiling anything, Season 3 takes the emotional and moral tension even further. Fans might be surprised by the direction of the series finale, but it’s a bold creative move that keeps the conversation going long after the credits roll.
