Can money buy you happiness? If so, how far would you go to achieve it?
"Squid Games" is a new Netflix original that has taken the social media world by storm. I'm sure you've noticed the amount of Tik Tok challenges and memes inspired from the show all over your feed. And if you're wondering if the show is worth all of the hype, it is.
"Squid Games" is about hundreds of people who receive an invitation to compete in children's games such as Tug of War, Red Light Green Light, and more. As they are all struggling in life, the grand prize of being rich is tempting, but the price to play is fatal.
As it is a survival game with a lot at stake, you can think of the show as a more intense graphic version of "Hunger Games." Once you get through half of the first episode, the show takes a more exciting turn and becomes unpredictable the rest of the season. There's a new game in each episode, and you can't help but wonder who will survive and move on to the next round.
It's also a bit nostalgic, as some people may remember playing these games as kids, and seeing it with a dark twist can be mind-blowing.
Either way, if you are contemplating watching the Korean drama, I would give it a chance, and then you'll understand why it's so popular. On the other hand, if you're not into graphic violence, I would say to watch at least the first episode but judge for yourself how much you think you can tolerate it.
