"Riches" is a British drama on Amazon Prime that has a captivating storyline reminiscent of other shows such as "Empire" and "Dynasty."
Aside from the storyline, this series has a phenomenal wardrobe, good music, and melanin magic. Also, it is refreshing to see Black people dominating the Black Beauty Industry while single handedly addressing colorism and racism.
After the death of Stephen Richards, CEO of a Cosmetics Empire, he leaves the company to two of his estranged children, which causes more tension in the divided family.
The two estranged children are Nina and Simon, who live in America and have a different mother than their other three siblings, who live in London.
Nina Richards is ambitious and logical; she will not let anyone disrespect her as she will read them the filth with her eyes closed. Right by her side is her fierce brother, Simon, who has good advice and supports his sister's aspirations.
The antagonist of the series happens to be Stephen Richard's wife, Claudia. She is very protective of her three children and will not let Nina or Simon get in the way of what she wants. She has no problem tearing the company apart to have power.
Unfortunately, "Riches" only has six episodes for the first season, but I hope it is renewed for season two soon, as the finale left solid gems and plotlines for the next one.
What more needs to be said for you to add this series to your watchlist?
