Queen of the South Review

Teresa Mendoza has survived explosions, kidnappings, and shootings. She is a human version of the myth “cat with nine lives.”
Her story starts with her falling in love with a drug runner in Sinaloa, Mexico. Her whole life falls apart when he dies because his enemies become her enemies.
“Queen of the South” is an action drama about Teresa Mendoza’s journey to running a drug empire in the Western Hemisphere. If you are a fan of the shows “Breaking Bad” and “Narcos,” you will probably like this Netflix hit series too.
One of the main reasons I love this show is that women play vital leadership roles. Instead of being portrayed as sex objects or drug addicts, they are the ones leading these drug empires.
Each of the five seasons is better than the previous one, with more action, business opportunities, and dangerous enemies. In addition, for each season, there’s a flashforward that shows a powerful and wealthy Teresa in the future.
You will want to know how she goes from being an underdog to a top dog. It is one of those shows you cannot help but binge-watch because there is a cliffhanger in almost every episode.
P.S: Whenever the characters call someone a “pendejo” or “cabron,” it can vary in meaning depending on the context. Often, they are saying that person is an idiot or bastard.
