Growing up, I used to watch soap operas with my grandma whenever I stayed over at her house. I would be intrigued by all of the drama happening in shows like Days of Our Lives, The Young & the Restless, and General Hospital.
One day, I was surfing through Netflix and found a CW drama that happens to have one of my favorite childhood actresses as a part of the main cast (Elizabeth Gillies), and I couldn’t help but watch it.
Dynasty is a modernized reboot of the classic 1980s prime-time soap opera. The show follows two different families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, who are constantly battling each other for fame and fortune.
Blake Carrington is the head of the Carrington family and the CEO of Carrington Atlantic. He will do anything for his company to remain a legacy, even if it means sabotaging his own children to do it. Charming yet manipulative, Blake can get anything he wants through blackmail and monetary bribes.
Fallon Carrington (played by Elizabeth Gillies) is the adult version of Jade West from Victorious. She’s cunning and can become violent whenever she is angry or doesn’t get what she wants. Fallon is one of those complex characters where you find yourself almost always rooting for her success despite her devious nature.
Below is a short YouTube video of how she’s exactly like Jade, in case you don’t believe me.
Dynasty is a soap opera filled with so much betrayal and ridiculous schemes that you will be entertained with how petty all of the characters can be in this unrealistic drama. All three seasons of the show are available for binge-watching on Netflix and it is perfect for those who may have enjoyed watching soap operas in the past.
