In 2018, Marvel released one of the greatest and highest-grossing superhero movies of all time - "Black Panther." It was the first representation of a black superhero in mainstream comics and the first black superhero movie that has ever come out.
The audience fell in love with King T'challa as he became the Black Panther, ascended the throne, and introduced the wondrous world of Wakanda. Viewing the nation of Wakanda from the eyes of T'Challa, the audience falls in love with the advanced technology, traditions, culture, and black excellence.
In 2020, Chadwick Boseman, the main character who played King T'challa, aka the Black Panther, tragically passed away from colon cancer. Distraught, everyone was surprised and unsure of what to expect next from the franchise.
Two years later, the sequel "Black Panther Wakanda Forever" was released on November 11, 2022. For the plot, Wakanda fights to protect its nation against formidable enemies after the death of King T'challa and their Black Panther.
The film also serves as a tribute to Chadwick Boseman after his death; you can feel the grief through the screens. The actresses Angela Bassett (Queen Ramonda) and Letitia Wright (Princess Shuri) deserve an Oscar for their riveting performances. There were several moments where I fought to hold back tears.
The soundtrack also brought these cinematic moments together as tribal elements were integrated into the music, adding to the acting and increasing the intensity of the action to make it even more impactful.
If you have not watched the sequel yet, I suggest you do, as it is heartbreakingly beautiful, tragic, and golden. I recommend bringing some tissues with you because you may tear up or feel like someone is cutting onions in the theater.
P.S. "Alone" by Burna Boy has been playing in my head nonstop since the movie.
