XO Kitty Review

As a huge fan of Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” film trilogy, I couldn’t resist watching the spinoff series “XO Kitty,” which follows Lara Jean’s youngest sister, Kitty Covey.

In “XO Kitty,” Kitty enrolls at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS) to reunite with her longtime boyfriend in South Korea. She expects a picture perfect romance, but instead gets a reality check. Between heartbreak, culture shock, and navigating a completely new social scene, Kitty quickly learns that love, identity, and belonging are far more complicated than she imagined.

The series shines not only because of Kitty’s chaotic charm but also because of its lovable supporting cast. Dae, Kitty’s sweet yet emotionally guarded first love, struggles to express how he truly feels. Min-ho radiates confidence and sarcasm, pretending he's too cool to care—but underneath it all, he clearly does. Yuri is stylish, wealthy, and fiercely supportive of her friends. Then there’s Q, Kitty’s best friend, whose sharp wit and perfectly timed reactions make him both hilarious and incredibly relatable. He's the kind of friend who notices everything first—and isn’t afraid to say it out loud.

"XO, Kitty" is a lighthearted rom-com that blends American teen drama with classic K-drama flair. It’s packed with fan favorite tropes—love triangles, fake dating, love at first sight, and enemies-to-lovers—yet still manages to make them feel fresh and entertaining. The series leans heavily into teenage romance and self-discovery, balancing heartfelt moments with humor that keeps the story moving.

Fans of “To All The Boys I Loved Before” will also appreciate a few nostalgic appearances from Lara Jean (Lana Candor), Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo), and Margot (Janel Parrish). There are even subtle parallels between Lara Jean and Peter’s relationship and Kitty’s evolving dynamic with Min-ho.

Overall, “XO Kitty” is a fun, feel-good series that’s absolutely worth binging. With only three seasons, it’s an easy watch and if you haven’t watched it yet, you’re definitely missing out.

P.S. The soundtrack features K-pop hits from BTS, Seventeen, Superflavor, and many more artists, so don’t be surprised if a few songs end up on your playlist afterward.
