Umbrella Academy Review

Anyone who loves superhero shows and owns a Netflix account has probably watched this popular original that always lands on the top ten list.

Based on comic books and graphic novels created by Gerard Way, forty-three people are born to different mothers at the same time. In addition, seven adopted individuals train to become a superhero group known as "The Umbrella Academy."

Each sibling has unique powers:

  • Luther has super strength

  • Diego throws knives

  • Allison can force people to obey her with a whisper

  • Klaus can interact with ghosts

  • Number 5-time travels

  • Vanya is an explosive mystery until later

Each sibling brings to the group something different, and somehow, their powers mesh well together.

Season one was about the siblings reuniting after their father's death to figure out what happened to him. They also fight to prevent an apocalypse that will wipe out the entire world.

As the series progresses into three seasons, more chaos ensues, and each sibling must adapt and utilize their power to fight off any evil forces. The family is exceptionally chaotic as they are constantly bickering, but if any of them is in trouble, they will go through hell and back to be there for one another.

If you have not watched this series yet, I suggest you do, as there are a lot of comedic moments and enough fighting to keep viewers engaged in each episode.

P.S: I love the Umbrella Academy show introductions. It's unique given how it goes into a scene and then does the title after using an object to form the shape of an umbrella. If you don't mind spoilers, check out the video below regarding each sibling's powers.
