"Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin" Review

As a massive fan of the original "Pretty Little Liars" series, I was extremely excited to hear that HBO Max was releasing a reboot called "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin."

I was a bit anxious to watch as other series spin offs such as "Perfectionists” and "Ravenswood" were disappointments, but this reboot proved to stand on its own from the rest. It reminds me of the "Scream" TV slasher series with all of the murders that occur.

"Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin" is about a group of teenage girls tormented by an unhinged masked serial killer who is punishing them for the horrific mistakes of their mothers in the past.

It exists in the same universe as the original series, except this group is located in Millwood, only a few miles away from Rosewood.

Bailee Madison stars as Imogen, a pregnant teen who deals with tragedy in the first episode. Tabitha is a film geek who says too many references to horror movies but is a supportive friend. Noa is a defiant rebel dealing with a home situation.

Faran is a fantastic ballerina dancer with epic comebacks. Mouse is an introvert dealing with an overprotective mother over an incident that occurred when she was a kid.

"Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin" was well written, directed, and has good acting. It is more fast paced than the original show as "A" is not afraid to kill, and if the episode ends on a cliffhanger, it is usually very thrilling.

Viewers will know from watching only ten minutes of the first episode that this reboot will exceed expectations. This show is perfect for you to watch if you are a fan of horror and mystery mixed with teen drama. But, of course, if you loved the original series, I think you'll also love this new spin.

HBO Max released the first two episodes for free on YouTube, and fans will have to stream the other eight episodes on their platform.
