Are you looking for a new teen drama with culture, comedy, love triangles, and life lessons?
If so, you might want to watch the series “Never Have I Ever” on Netflix. The show is about Devi, an Indian-American teenager who strives to become popular after her father’s death, but numerous obstacles stand in her way.
Devi is a very outspoken teenager who excels in academics but makes reckless decisions in her social life that gets her in trouble with family and friends. Fabiola and Eleanor are her two best friends who attempt to be there for Devi but are dealing with their issues on the side.
Ben is Devi’s rival who excels academically for success and achievement to deal with his absent parents. Paxton is a popular jock with a sweetheart who cares about other people but worries about his reputation slightly more.
“Never Have I Ever” is similar to “Awkward” and “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before,” where a socially awkward nerd meets a sensitive popular jock.
However, the show stands out because it sheds light on Indian culture and the pressure that Indian-Americans may face in America. In addition, it showcases different ways that grief can impact people and how individuals can bounce back from terrible mistakes.
So if you’re looking for a series with heart-melting moments that simultaneously provide nostalgia for you, I suggest you stream the two seasons on Netflix.
